Despite not keeping to a specific design theme, this breezy condominium unit located at the northern part of the island looks well put-together
Spacious, cosy and decked in earthy tones, the laid-back vibe of this apartment unit is exactly what its homeowners wanted to return to after a long day. Having approached designers Andy Tan and Ace Li from D’Trenzo Interior to do up their home, the dynamic duo took only 9 weeks to transform their home from drab to fab.
Beginning at the living area, the designers used a colour combo of pale brown and white on the walls to strike a clean-cut balance. And to create a seamless effect, the television is fushed against the feature wall, while the rest of the zone is adorned with plush furnishings and warm lighting to evoke the cosy feel.
As the dining area and kitchen are next to each other, Andy and Ace decided to install a tempered glass sliding door using tinted glass. This not only ushers in a sleek look but also serves to block out any strong cooking smells from the kitchen. Inside the cooking quarters, it adopts a clean white and dark brown colour theme that is consistent with the relaxed design lingo of the home. Venturing into the private zones, each area has a bay window which takes up a fair bit of space. Despite that, the designers did not hack it away and instead, they managed to work around it. For instance, in the common bedrooms, they retained the seating function of the bay window by padding part of it with a PVC seat. They then laid a study desktop across it to create a compact but functional study space.
For the master bedroom, the walls are partially lined with customised wallpaper sporting large, leafy prints that evoke a tranquil, nature-inspired feel. Since the large prints seem to diminish the room in size, the designers countered that by installing recessed lighting beneath the bed frame to conjure up a light and “floating” illusion.
