The Room

Imagine having a balcony above you, literally hanging from the ceiling as you dine. This restaurant makes your dining experience and engaging one.

The challenge is to create an overall spatial experience for this restaurant of being sophisticated yet affordable. The dining area is confined within a singular space just like room, to go beyond the physical limitation on the size of the restaurant, we draw inspiration from the Dutch artist, Maurits Cornelis Escher to transform the “room” into an engaging place.

Based in Hong Kong, the single room restaurant has more than the standart number of windows, walls and floors as the ceiling is made up of balconies, stairs and windows.

These components are constructed onto the ceiling and to the walls that wraps around the entire room.

Loft-style is applied to the interior furnishing for bringing diners an idyllically homely dining experience to creating a “room” context. This design takes a contemporary elaboration on the spatial structure so as to arise the emotions of the consumer and to establish a brand new relationship between people and food space.

As designer Joey Ho drew up inspiration from Dutch artist M.C. Escher, the spatial dimension has transformed one large room into an exciting spatial structure making the dining experience a whole lot more engaging.
