Loft Living

Experience a different home living when you step into The 80's Studio's New York loft concept showroom cum office space

True to their aim of creating innovative and unconventional design concepts, the newly set up interior design company recently opened its doors to their frst offce cum showroom space. Helmed by director Andy Tan, this approximately 1000-square-foot is designed to evoke a raw industrial feel of lofts in New York.

Located at Ubi Avenue 4, this offce cum showroom underwent a two-month-long overhaul, with the most major modifcation being the mezzanine level that was added on. Upon entering the showroom, one would be greeted by a clean and welcoming kitchen space.

Since islands are quite a trend in kitchens these days, a white one made from quartz surface adorns the area. Next to it, an eye-catching display of storage shelves injects an element of fun. Handcrafted from recycled wood, the clever improvisation shows off creativity and the spirit of recycling.

Separated by tempered glass panels and a steel frame is the ‘thinking room’ that’s made for discussions with customers. Here, the element of recycling is again implemented with a solid timbre table that adds a raw touch to the space.

Moving beyond the entrance, a half-height brick wall that holds the offce space creates a cosy and inviting café ambience instead of the usual formal and stringent work environments. Meeting tables are custom built from solid timber, while a suspended white box above the table functions both as an unusual storage space and lighting option. But the main show stealer would be the feature wall of bricks. These man-made bricks were imported from India, and handcrafted personally by the designers. The impressive wall lines the entire length of the space and continues even to the bathroom. To complete the industrial look of the place, black wire mesh separates the bathroom from the offce space while keeping it as open concept as possible.
